A single-storey retreat organised around a shaded courtyard, where lime-washed walls hold the changing Atlantic light.

We treated light as the primary material — every wall is a surface for it to move across.

Brief

The clients wanted a house that disappeared into its dune landscape: low, horizontal, and quiet. We answered with a plan that wraps living spaces around a central courtyard, so the building reads as a frame rather than an object.

Circulation runs along the shaded north edge, leaving the southern rooms open to the sea and the long afternoon light.

Private wing — bedroom and bathing room.

Materials were kept to three: lime plaster, untreated oak, and a warm grey microcement that ties floors to walls. Nothing is painted; everything ages.
