A former iron foundry converted into a design studio's headquarters, keeping the raw shell honest.
We added almost nothing — we revealed what the foundry already was.
Approach
The existing structure — cast columns, a sawtooth roof, brick infill — did the architectural work. Our intervention was a calm timber mezzanine inserted as a clearly new layer.
Services run exposed; the contrast between heavy shell and light insertion gives the workplace its character.
